About Verification

Verification through our Travel Trade Verification Service
Although in reality the use of the Internet is safe, and with due prudence, no less safe than meeting people through our working and social lives, there remains a fear that unscrupulous individuals may be present.

We have created a Verification Service through nationwide Travel Trade representatives such as your local High Street Travel Agents. This service is optional.
> Click here for a list of UK verification agents.

What is verification?
Verification is a way of giving members peace of mind i.e. that other members that they may wish to communicate with are ‘who they say they are’ and have not made up a false identity. When members are matched with two people - the one who is verified is more likely to be selected as a possible travel companion by the member.

How do I get verification of my identity?
Your identity can be verified and entered into the system only by the authorized travel trade companies such as Travel Agents. All registered or full members will be identifiable on the website as having been verified by the presence of an orange coloured V symbol near to their username. Members who are matched with Verified members will feel assured that they are, indeed, communicating with people "who are who they say they are!".

Travel trade representatives are ideally placed to reduce such fears by their professional standing and the simple process of document checking, e.g.:

  • Passport.
  • Driver’s licence picture ID.
  • Utility and local authority bills.
  • Credit cards.
  • Credit card statements.

An individual can be verified if they present a combination of the following:

  • One photograph ID with address and signature.
  • Two sets of utility or local authority bills.
  • Plus the credit card which they propose to rely on for payment.

The agent will simply cross reference photograph, address and signature, record the documents seen and appropriate reference numbers and authorise verification if the candidate is considered suitable.

The travel trade representative may charge a fee of up to £10. Where personal details have been previously verified, but then change, (e.g. your address), only an authorised travel trade representative can change the details for you. A further fee of up to £10 may be charged by the travel trade representative.
