Communicating with matches
When communicating with matches, always use the secure Messaging System. It does not reveal your true identity, address telephone number or email address.

You cannot send images via the Messaging System – but if you do decide that you would like to send an image, then you will have to email them. We recommend you use and anonymous or temporary email address in order to preserve you identity.

Take your time and don’t rush into things ....
Do not be quick to provide personal details to a ‘match’ and when you do, initially keep it to the minimum necessary to make contact. Once details such as addresses, telephone numbers, places of work, etc. have been provided, they cannot be retracted. Even your postcode can in isolation be used to provide your approximate address!

Take the time to gradually learn about your match and consider carefully the responses you receive to questions. Like-minded, honest and trustworthy individuals are out there, but remember occasionally people may not be who they say they are. Enjoy the experience of information exchange, but do not get lost in the moment. You should always consider whether a member’s responses are truthful.

Be sure that you are comfortable ....
The exchange of information should be mutual; be suspicious if it’s one-sided.

You have a right to expect reasonable questions to be answered.

Ask yourself whether the facts are consistent, e.g. age, marital status, employment, experiences, and do they make extravagant claims or are there contradictions when considered with the information you already know – how many multi-millionaire former jet pilots are there anyway!

You do not need to exchange extensive personal information in order to meet, but if you do not feel comfortable, perhaps your time would be better invested with someone with whom you feel more at-ease. If for any reason, you have doubts about a person, a meeting may simply be premature.
